Grover Cleveland Alexander is born February 26, 1887 4 November 1950 an American professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals.
Alexander made his debut in Philadelphia in 1911 pre season City Series. Alexander struck five innings of no hit , no run baseball against the Athletics.
Alexander's 90 shutout is a National League record and his 373 wins are tied with Christy Mathewson for the first time in the National League record book. Alexander was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1938, the third year in the Hall. Alexander was the only player elected this year.
Alexander was the subject of the 1952 biographical film the winning team, where he was played by Ronald Reagan.
